BIGFOOT
FACT or LEGEND?
There are approximately 100+ names for the giant hairy creature
roaming the deep woods and mountains of the world but it is most
commonly called “Bigfoot or Sasquatch”. Most names come from
North America and the United States. The actual origin of American
Bigfoot lore is still in question but most would agree it starts with the
indigenous peoples of North America. The Shalish tribes of British
Columbia referred to Bigfoot as Sasquatch or Wildman of the Woods.
The range of speculation as to what Bigfoot is has produced as many
believers as skeptics over time. The scientists want proof. They want a
carcass. The believers want laws passed to protect it. No one knows
where it came from and no one knows what it is. That is fact. What
we do know is that every Native American tribe has a story of a giant
hairy wildman living in the woods or in swamps. Some believe it is an
ancestor of the Gigantopithicus, a primate that once lived in China,
now extinct. Most scientists discount the existence of Bigfoot and
consider it to be a combination of folklore, mis-identification and
hoax. Still the Bigfoot legend endures.
Reports and newspaper stories go back to the 1800’s. Most are of
attacks on woodsman and trappers but again just unsubstantiated
stories. Modern day reports are quickly dismissed as misidentification
of known animals. It should be noted that no great apes are found in
the fossil record of the Americas and no Bigfoot remains have ever
been found. Scientist all say that the breeding population would be so
large that it would account for many more sightings that currently
occur. Jane Goodall speaking on NPR in 2002 first stated “I’m sure
they exist”, she later went on to say, chuckling, “Well I always wanted
them to exist” and finally “You know why isn’t there a body?” I can’tanswer that, and maybe they don’t exist. Anthropologists and
Paleontologist completely dismiss the existence of “Bigfoot”
Unfortunately believers are generally as uninformed as the skeptics.
Reading a few books, watching videos on You Tube and articles
presenting a favorable view hardly qualifies one as an expert on the
subject. Bigfoot enthusiasts are notorious for the way they accept and
repeat stories without any attempt at verification. Many groups are in
keen competition with each other to provide proof that something
exists. Unfortunately the failure to produce proof continues to side
with science. Grover S. Krantz, PhD said both sides of this argument
have not thoroughly investigated both sides of the issue. It would be a
lot more reasonable if they would honestly admit they don’t know for
sure. But who expects reason in a subject like this. Anyone who
seriously thinks a Bigfoot should not be taken does not really want
their existence to be proven. G. Krantz, PhD
There are a number of Bigfoot Research Organizations in the United
States. From our research most of them are credible in their research
and the techniques used. They want to prove Bigfoot exists. They get
their boots muddy and they will not publish unverifiable reports. They
use modern research tools like infrared cameras and night vision
devices. They collect samples of hair and scat. Unfortunately they
never reveal what the results of lab tests are. One of our researchers
submitted hair samples to a nationally noted Bigfoot researcher and
never heard a word on the results nor has he received the samples
back. Like we said most are credible. Not all. Another thing we found
disturbing was the willingness of groups to sell plaster casts of Bigfoot
impressions. One would think you are just selling ammunition to the
hoaxers. We found through research that groups selling these casts
also have a high rate of Bigfoot prints to report. Faked footprints need
no further comment. We are of the opinion that people who present
for acceptance data such as above (footprints) have lost theircredibility and one should be suspicious of any kind of information
they have. Another thing we noticed was the selling of Bigfoot
Investigation Adventures. Excursions costing $300.00 per person is not
uncommon. They amount to a group of 30 or so would be Bigfoot
enthusiasts wandering about the woods talking and making noise and
then settling down for a cookout and story telling. Hardly the
investigative technique a real researcher would use. Some more
nonsense is connecting or trying to connect Bigfoot and UFO’s. Pure
BS!
Searching and trying to prove Bigfoot exists is very similar to the study
of UFO’s, many sightings that are misidentifications and many reports
that are absolute hoaxes. Then there is the Patterson film (which we
accept) Researched over the years and still it has never been classified
as a hoax. So with Project Blue Book which could have as many as
5,000 unidentified flying objects in their case file as opposed to their
original claim of 500 to 600. Could this humanoid creature inhabit the
wilderness areas of the U.S. and Canada? We believe it could. Will it
take serious researchers to find it or at least find enough evidence to
prove it? That is unknown. Merely speculating about it’s existence is
not enough. Interviews, field reports, analysis of evidence gathered,
sound recordings and photographs will all play a big part in solving
this mystery. The serious advocates are few as most see the
entertainment value and the fortune and glory in their endeavors. The
small expedition in the right place at the right time will most likely be
the one’s who bring the concrete evidence of Bigfoot’s existence to
the scientific community and the world.www.paufosearch.com
